The Modern Freelancer - Navigating Life as an Expat in Portugal with Kimberly Ann from Expat On A Budget

This Podcast features Kimberly Anne, a Digital Nomad and Expat living in Portugal since 2022.

Kimberly is also the host of the Podcast Expat On A Budget and her Substack of the same name shares valuable tips for those considering a move abroad.

Kimberly started expat on a budget with one mission of mine to provide practical advice and insights for people navigating the challenges of moving away from their respective home countries.

Hope y’all enjoy this conversation filled with laughs!

Takeaways:

When the fear of staying the same outweighs the fear of change, you will change.

Kimberly knew she had to move forward. The monotony of daily life pushed her to make a change, ultimately soft launching her leave from the U.S. in 2022.

Pre-covid, Kimberly was an acupuncturist living in Marin County, California, with a $10,000 monthly overhead. When the pandemic hit, she stopped working for three months and realized she could survive on half that—an eye-opening realization that set everything in motion that led to her journey from acupuncturist to van lifer to a digital nomad and expat living in Porto, Portugal.

The Expat on a Budget modality - (48:38)

Kimberly has four (4) modules in her course to help you get a head start on that move abroad.

  1. Mindset, moving forward and getting past fears of a big move

  2. Researching where to go

  3. Minimizing & De-Cluttering whilst planning your move

  4. Financial support, since it is Expat On a Budget.
